Luna walked into the Great Hall, admiring the stone floor, glad to be back again. She acknowledged the beautiful sheen of the four house tables, and gazed at the crowd of black-clad students. There was shouting, laughter, and mostly a lot of embracing.
Luna's overly-polished shoes made the smallest "click" on the clean stone floors as she made her way through the sea of teenagers. Her freshly ironed and starched robes slightly grazed the ground, but Luna's eyes darted all around the Great Hall. She recognized all of them by name or sight, but as she skipped to the far end of the Ravenclaw table, no one greeted her.
Luna glanced at the staff table, wondering whom Headmistress Rose had chosen for the previously open positions. Next, she caught sight of the famous Sorting Hat of Godric Gryffindor, rested upon the same stool as last year. Luna remembered sitting on that stool just last year. She had been one of the first to sit on it that year as Headmistress Rose's clear voice called out, "Granger, Luna!"
Then Luna recalled the sweatiness of her usually dry palms, her tremulous walk, and the nervousness that she had felt. Yet, this year it would be her that would watch eleven-year-olds sit on that stool, and clap for the new Ravenclaws. Luna was anxious still, and nervous, so she glanced at her watch for something to do. Luna pulled up her black sleeve to reveal a new blue watch that read 17:39.
"Almost," she mumbled.

Mia walked down the large hallway. She was in a rush, as always, to get something done before the sorting. She ran over to a tapestry and pulled out her wand. She muttered, "Wingadium Leviosa" and ran under it. She let it drop as soon as she passed.
She ran out into the open library she said, "Accio, Potions book." The book she needed came flying. She barely caught it. She skimmed through the pages and found what she was looking for. She marked the page and went over to the librarian to check out the book.
She ran back through another passage that led next to the great hall. She walked in and sat down at the Ravenclaw table and asked Luna, "Did I miss anything?"

The Great Hall seemed to overwhelm Jesse. Hearing the shouts and friendly speech of the students as they greeted old friends and made new ones was like the sweetest chord of music. Seeing the gleaming tables of the four house, bare for the moment of food, and the swarming crowd of black robes seemed like a dream. He paused for a moment in the doorway, letting his fingers trail against the polished wood of the large door, as he tried to let it all sink in. He couldn't remember feeling like this.
Memories of all the years came flooding in. His first year he was so small, full of fear, excitement, and happiness as he entered that hall for the first time. He remembered sitting on the stool and feeling the sorting hat touch his head before exclaiming 'Gryffindor!' With each passing year, the sense of home would flood around him, welcoming him in with open arms. But this year felt different, almost sad.
This was his last year at this school. At the end, he would graduate, unable to return unless he was a teacher. It was heartbreaking, realizing that the place he had called 'home' for so many years was finally saying goodbye and pushing him out of the nest.
Trying to put on a brave face through the mask of melancholy that had fallen around him, Jesse made his way over to the Gryffindor table where he took a seat next to his fellow classmates.

Luna would almost have missed the Ravenclaw fifth year that spoke to her, except for the fact that the bench shook slightly from its new occupant.
"Did I miss anything?" spoke a brunette girl to her left.
Luna had to regain herself, as she was previously gazing into the blue of the Ravenclaw sapphires. After a few moments, she realized that she had to answer.
"Oh--sorry, no. Not yet, at least."
Luna turned her head to wards the entrance to the Great Hall: more students filed in, soon enough the first years would come through and it would be the official start of the New Year. Luna's thoughts soon trailed to what the second years would be learning, and what things she could accomplish with S.P.E.W.
Luna saw what she assumed to be the last of the students file through the door to the Great Hall, causing her to turn her attention to the fellow Ravenclaw on her left. The girl seemed familiar somehow, but that was probably only because she was in the same house. Luna knew that she had heard her name somewhere, but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. Somehow...Luna kept coming back to a pear, which made no absolute sense at all.
The aforementioned fifth year had a light brown shade of hair which went down below her shoulder, pretty green eyes and was a normal build going towards skinny. She was an average fifteen year old in Luna’s opinion, yet she could still not understand where she knew her from. She kept thinking of old Winky the house-elf.
”Wait! I know who you are! You’re that girl I saw in the Kitchens last year!” thought Luna. Her thoughts were quite loud as she turned back to the girl she believed to be Mia. Luna had to shout to be heard over the din.
"Hello! My name is Luna! Aren't you Mia? Because I believe I've seen you in the Kitchens from time to time!"
Luna held out her hand- she was very partial on hand-shaking.

" Yes, I'm Mia Margarite Honeycutt, Nice to meet you Luna Granger." Mia sighed, happy she didn't miss anything. She tucked her wand deaper into her robe so it wouldn't fall out.
She waited patiently for the sorting ceremony would start. She started tapping her foot to the rythm of a song she didn't recognize. She was starting to get bored, so she just folded her arms on the table and let her head lie in them.

The noise of the Great Hall swallowed Blue as she entered through the doors. She pushed past another seventh year as he paused in the doorway. Watching the students swarm like a black cloud around her deepened the frown on her face. Unlike many of the other seventh year students, Blue was looking forward to her final year. This was her last year of being a student, her last year of being looked down upon. She was ready to entered the real world.
As she made her way over to the Slytherin table, her eyes caught sight of the sorting hat. Her frown disappeared for a moment as she remembered how it had barely touched her head before calling out her house. She had expected nothing less, knowing in her heart that she was not suited for any of the other houses. No...that's not right. Her heart didn't tell her that; her heart was simply an organ, not the type of love heart portrayed in all the muggle films. Her past had been the one that made her strong, that made her a Slytherin. Bloodline and heart had nothing to do with it.
Many of her fellow Slytherins were either seated at the table or gathered around it with their friends. Blue took her normal seat on the far end of the table, closest to the doors. She hated being near the teachers, always having their watchful eyes following her every move. It wasn't so much that she was a trouble maker, it was simply that she was...uncontrollable.

Mia looked around at all the people in the great hall. She sighed, "Much more people than last year," She thought, "I guess the classes are going to be much more crowded as well." She started to tap her foot on the ground. She started laughing at herself for she realized the song she was tapping her foot to.
She started whispering the words to herself, "What is this feeling, so sudden and new..." She loves that song and it pops up in her mind subconsciously sometimes. She laughed at herself again as she started humming the tune.
People around her must of thought that she was crazy!! She just kept humming in the Great Hall. She was sure only a few people could hear her, for the hall was so vast and so many people were talking. She stopped humming and started tapping her foot again as more people started looking over. She was practically fighting back Hysteria. She wanted to burst out in laughter but knew she couldn't unless she wanted to attract more attention than what she got in her last four years of Hogwarts.

OOC: Sorry Ash. It's been corrected.
BIC: Luna sat there, witnessing the last students enter the Great Hall. There were quite a lot. Next to her, Mia Honeycutt was singing and laughing. Something from that Muggle film, West Side Story. Luna gazed at the bulbs which recorded house points - they were empty, and she longed to have a large part in filling the Ravenclaw one this year.
Luna reflected on how fast the previous year had gone, but she cherished the idea of being in third year, the time where she would be able to start Divination, Care of Magical Creatures, and Ancient Runes. According to Hermione, Ancient Runes was a very interesting subject. So interesting, that Luna had recieved a set of Ancient Runes books for Christmas.
But, the incessant humming was starting to annoy her. "Um...would you hum something else? That song's a tad irritating."
