Luna could not sleep, that is why she was out in the middle of the night on the Covered Bridge, in a thin pair of pajamas and a cotton navy robe. The night air was still warm, on account of this summer being one of the hottest Britain had ever experienced. Luna had not been able to sleep, causing her to slip quietly off her bed in the girl's dormitory, and apply matching navy blue slippers to her feet, only to scuffle down the stone steps and miss the last two.
Besides that first unfortunate incident, Luna's clumsiness had miraculously chosen not to intrude itself upon her, or at least, not yet. At first, Luna thought that she might walk around the Black Lake, but then thought of the fact that everyone else who sneaks out either goes to the Kitchens or a stroll around the Black Lake. Luna refused to fit into such a trend, therefore retreating to the Forbidden Forest which contained those infamous thestrals.
Luna ceased her scuffling across the wooden bridge.
Thestrals, thought she, That's what's bothering me.
At the end of last year, a student had dared her to enter deep inside the Forbidden Forest at midnight. Of course, Luna could have simply ignored this aforementioned student like she did most everyone else, but Luna had a particular interest in said forest and decided to unearth that Gryffindor courage. Upon entering the forest, Luna had not witnessed any spectacular nor horriffic events, being that it was the middle of the night. At least, Luna had not witnessed anything until the point where she reached probably a hundred yards in and had her first precious encounter with those infamous thestrals.
What had troubled her most, was the explanation of their visibility. As later explained, a person could only see thestrals if they had seen death. Luna could not recall witnessing someone's death, so the only plausible reason would be that she had seen someone "snuff it" before the age of two.
Luna realized that her thinking might have been taking too long. With the thoughts still racing through her mind, Luna broke into a full blown run, not even checking to see if anyone had appeared behind her.
"Briliant," panted Luna, admiring the beauty of Scotland.
